Treat a summer sunburn, At home tips and tricksLast time, we talked about the simplest ways to prevent irritating, unflattering sunburns before they happened.  Today, it’s all about what to do once the sunburn has already set in.

 Treatments:

For when applying sunscreen in the first place wasn’t enough.

  1. Cool Down: Apply an ice pack to the burned area, or take a cool bath and add a cup of whole oats for extra calming power. Avoid using soap that could dry out your skin more than it already is.

  1. Apply a Natural Healer: Try using Aloe, the natural plant that has been healing for hundreds of years. Just smooth the gel over the irritated area for recovery, and don’t forget a sheet mask with aloe to reduce the redness and regain healthy looking skin.

  1. Moisturize: Exposure to the sun dries out your skin, causing your skin to lack in vital hydration. Refresh yourself by drinking lots of water and replenish the skin with rich moisturizer.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how diligent you were applying sunscreen or seeking shade, you still end up getting too much sun. Fortunately, there are options to choose from to speed up the healing process and soothe your red, irritated skin. Remember, by applying sunscreen as part of your daily routine, you will be able to prevent harsh sunburns and maintain healthy skin. Now get back to all your favorite summer outdoor activities!
