Forget the Pumpkin Spice Latte: 4 Cold Weather Drinks that are Healthy and Delicious

Pumpkin Spice Latte

A report came out recently that detailed every last ingredient in the beloved fall Pumpkin Spice Latte. And if you shuddered at the thought of drinking a toxic amount of sugar and at least two known carcinogens, you weren’t alone.

The number of cold weather drinks available to us is staggering, but it’s sometimes harder to find options that aren’t coffee based. Better yet, are there any hot drinks that are healthy and that could actually improve the complexion of our skin?

Hot Tea. Tea naturally contains tannins, an antioxidant that helps protect the body against free radicals. Tannins are also anti-microbial, meaning that they will help get rid of bacteria, even bacteria on your skin.

Mulled Apple Cider. Apple cider is a great fall treat and a great alternative to other seasonal favorites like the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Mull your cider with orange zest and ginger for an added immunity boost.

Mexican Hot Chocolate. Adding cinnamon to your hot chocolate gives this cold weather favorite a spicy twist. Cinnamon also has the added benefit of increasing circulation which will help your skin renew itself more quickly.

Hot Cranberry Juice. Cranberries are a favorite fall fruit that not only tastes like Thanksgiving but is also high in antioxidants. Simmer the juice on the stove with citrus rinds and cloves, and your taste buds, and your skin, will thank you.
